Case Studies Welcome to the Slaughter of the Dissidents (SOD) case studies page. This is your portal to learning more about people who have been discriminated against and/or persecuted for being a Darwinism skeptic. Some of the people listed on this page have an entire chapter devoted to them in SOD, others have receive brief coverage or are only mentioned in passing, while others are not discussed in the book at all. In any case, we call your attention to what happened to them and urge your careful consideration of their experience. If you have additional information, or believe clarification is needed for any individual listed here, we would be happy to hear from you. Just drop us an email at sodeditor at gmail dot com with "Additional Case Study Info About [Name]" in the subject line. Even more important, if you know of someone who has experienced discrimination for being a Darwin skeptic, and they are not listed here, we would be interested in hearing about them. Please be assurred that for many cases we respect the confidentaility of people who cannot risk exposing their real name at this time because doing so might jeopardize their current job or family security. For those instances, we often present information about their experience without revealing the actual name of the victims or institutions involved. Where we have used the actual names of victims, this is because the information about their case has already been widely publicized or published somewhere. We also rank each case as Mild, Moderate, or Severe. MILD cases represent minor cases where discrimination of some sort occurred, but did not result in much more than relatively minor inconvenience for the victim. Such instances would involve derogutory or inappropriate comments, false accusations, name calling, and other minor threats. MODERATE cases are those where the career of the victim was disrupted, but not ended, and where no major lifestyle disruptions are known. These cases resulted in some inconvenience such as resassignment of duties or cancellation of course offerings, but no career-ending actions. SEVERE cases rank among those where discrimination resulted in career termination or disruption, blackballing, or denial of tenure, denial of an otherwise earned degree, refusal to publish work produced by the victim, or denial of major award or recognition, denial of promotion, physical violence, and death threats. Or, such instances would be where earned degrees were denied or where attempts to sabotage the career of the victim in some way. These cases are the worst of the worst that we know of, and report major life changes and disruptions well beyond what we would call inconvenience, and include career-ending actions.
